Хелен и Айвър Томас са били нападнати близо до техния хотел. Семейството е за трета поредна година в България, но казва, че това е последното им идване в тази страна, отбелязва ЕсТиВи. Beaten, choked & arm broken... we’re terrified to leave the hotel

A DISABLED couple are too terrified to leave their holiday hotel room after they were battered by a brutal mugger.

Frail Ivor Thomas, 71, and wife Helen, 69, told how they were jumped as they strolled hand in hand in a Bulgarian resort.

Helen has been left with a broken arm and bruising all over her body, while hubby Ivor was punched in the face and choked.

Last night retired postie Ivor said: "My wife is very badly bruised.

"She's in a real state. I'm having a job helping her.

"We haven't been able to eat since because we're so stressed.

"We haven't slept either because of the worry. I can't wait to get home.

"Our flight is on Saturday - but we can't wait that long."

The couple, of Aberdeen, were on their third visit to the Sunny Beach resort and were staying at the Iberostar Hotel.

But on Wednesday - just days into the trip - their break was ruined when the mugger struck.

Ivor's chain was grabbed from his neck, choking him, and his wife - who is diabetic and has problems walking - was thrown to the ground.

The terrified couple were forced to plead with their attacker as he threatened to beat them with a BELT.

Ivor said: "He was a big, strong lad. He took off his belt, which had a huge buckle, and it looked like he was going to hit me with it.

"We shouted 'please, please' and he ran off after that. I'm just glad he didn't have a knife."

The grandparents reported the attack to cops and grown-up kids Ivor, Diane, Audrey and Kevin, are helping them find an earlier flight home.

Kevin, 37, of Peterhead, said: "I feel so helpless."

Earlier this month, The Scottish Sun told exclusively how a terrified couple bought guns to protect themselves after being battered and robbed in Bulgaria.

Alan Cantwell, 65, and wife Sylvia, 63, slept with the loaded weapons under their pillows as they fled back to Scotland in a camper van.
